Plot Summary:
| Jyothi (Rekha) is the daughter if a not so well to do middle class family parents. They consider a daughter as a burden on them. They believe that only boys will look after parents in the old age and bring them happiness. Jyothi grows up facing many obstacles and completes her studies with flying colors and lands a job as a journalist at a TV channel. But unable to bear the torture of her father, she enters the home of SP Balasubrahmanyam and Lakshmi as a paying guest. Their two sons are aboard leaving the aged couple to fend for themselves. Their son dies in the US and when the urn containing his ashes is brought to India, the old parents ask their other son to come back from the US and stay wit them. But he refuses as he is used to the material comforts and gives more importance to it than family relationships, responsibility and sentiment. At this juncture, Jyothi comes forward to adopt the dead couple as her parents and even performs their last rites. more
